The Hispanic Business Student Association believes in rewarding its members for their hard work, academic excellence, and dedication. HBSA encourages all of its members to apply to the scholarships that are offered. For each of the following scholarships, an underclassman and an upperclassman will be selected.

Scholastic Achievement Scholarship

In order to be considered for this scholarship, members must turn in their unofficial transcript to the Managing Director no later than September 7, 2010. The winners are selected based on their academic achievement and are announced during the First General Meeting.  

Organizational Development Scholarship

The winners of this scholarship will be selected based upon their response to an essay question. The theme of the essay is to provide feedback and new initiative ideas for HBSA. The winners will be announced in our second General Meeting and will be asked to help HBSA in implementing their ideas.

Community Involvement Scholarship

The winners of these scholarships will be selected based on a themed essay that describes their experience in communityinvolvement. HBSA is heavily involved in the community by volunteering at Barrio Center, Youth Outreach Day, and hosting Blood Drives among many other events. The prompt will be sentvia email to all of our members. The winners will be announced in our third General Meeting.

Fundraising Initiatives Scholarship

The winners of these scholarships will be selected based on a themed essay that describes their experience with fundraising events and new initiatives that HBSA can implement. The prompt will be sent via email to all of our members.The winners will be announced in our fourth General Meeting.

 

The following awards are given out at the HBSA end of semester banquet.

Outstanding Student Leader Award

The award is given to one HBSA officer that has demonstrated commitment to the organization by going above and beyond their respective duties. At the end of the semester, the officer board decides on who should be recognized for their hard work, leadership and dedication to HBSA. The winner receives a scholarship for the upcoming academic semester.

Outstanding Returning Member Award

The Outstanding Returning Member Award is given to a returning HBSA member that has demonstrated commitment to HBSA. The winner is selected based on the amount ofpoints that the member was able to accumulate throughout the semester. The winner receives a scholarship for the upcoming academic semester.

Outstanding New Member Award



The Outstanding New Member Award is given to a new HBSA member that has demonstrated interest in the organization by being active during the semester.The winner will is selected based on the amount of points that the new member was able to accumulate. The winner receives a scholarship for the upcoming academic semester.

 

General Requirements:

     Must be a current HBSA paid member

     Must apply for the scholarship by deadline

     Must have a minimum of 300 points by the HBSA end of semester banquet
